Right Solution, Lasting Impact
A federal agency wanted to build a guided, TurboTax-style procurement tool. Research revealed an alternative that would be cheaper and faster to delivery. What we built is still being used and evolving three years on.

// MY POINT OF VIEW
I don't just design interfaces. I design systems that don’t fail when people are under pressure or distracted.
The through-line across my work isn't an industry, it's a problem type. Multi-step, regulation-constrained, high-consequence systems where design determines whether users succeed or fail.

Federal IT Procurement: Right Solution, Right Timeline, Lasting Impact
CHALLENGE
A federal agency needed to improve IT procurement before its next fiscal year-end surge. Leadership had a long-term vision of a TurboTax-style guided interface, but faced immediate constraints: limited budget, a tight timeline, and no clear sense of where to start in the near term.
RESULT
Rather than building to assumptions, I ran user research to surface the real problems that needed to be solved. Although the procurement forms’ complexity played a part, the primary issues identified from the research were not knowing what documents were needed, outdated templates used, and inconsistent guidance on how to apply complex Federal regulations. These insights allowed me to design a knowledge resource delivered in months, not years. Today, Contracting Officers (COs) cut their workload by pointing staff to this tool where consistent guidance and up-to-date templates are provided with clear identification of the documents needed for a given scenario. Usage spikes during every acquisition surge provide proof this tool has become an authoritative resource people return to. In its third year, we’re still building on the initial MVP, now exploring AI integration that will outperform the tool originally envisioned.

// WHAT SETS MY WORK APART
Formal training. Real-world experience.
The credential grounds my work. Over two decades of application is what delivers results.
Human Factors
I have a M.S. in Human Factors Psychology. This robust education grounds my work with an analytical lens that produces reliable results.
Designing for Business
I work with a view towards impact. Whether B2B or B2C, the business objectives must be understood to ensure the product achieves the desired results.
Building & Leading
I stand up UX practices where it has not been integrated into the product life cycle. I lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor practitioners while continuing to do the work, not just direct it.
// HOW I WORK
Research
that makes a meaningful impact.
Providing clarity when it matters the most.
Formative user research — reframing the problem before anyone designs a solution.
Usability research — structured evaluations grounded in valid, reliable methodology.
Embedded field research — observing performance in high-stakes environments to reliably inform design decisions.
Evidence over pitches — earning stakeholders' trust by delivering reliable results.
